This book aims at presenting the vast subject of waqf administration in India in a nutshell. It encompasses the subject from the origin of waqf in Islam to its advent in India, the history of waqf administration in India from 711AD to the present day, to the current management of awqāf and the attendant problems, and also what future holds for waqf. The author strongly advocates the need to free awqāf from governmental control and the ways to achieve such democratisation. A model Waqf Law, 2006 has been drafted by the author to help the authorities to take corrective measures.
The book avoids the legal text-book style of other books on Waqf which generally over-load the text with too many footnotes and academic jargons. It is a book for those who wish to know the basics of waqf administration in the country in an easy, simple way.
